Metamaterials for Novel Wave Phenomena in Microwaves, Optics, and Mechanics
Starting from the 2015 edition of the Metamaterials conference, a partnership between the journal EPJ Applied Metamaterials and the Metamaterials Congress has been established, which envisage a Special Issue of the Congress published on EPJ AM every year.
The aim of the Metamaterials'2021 congress special issue is to provide a representative collection of recent developments in microwave, optical, photonic, and mechanical metamaterials. Particularly, the special issue offers the possibility to publish in extended format the best contributions submitted and presented at Metamaterials’2021. We therefore invite researchers to submit an extended version of their work presented at the conference. As for the previous editions (free access here: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020), also the 2021 edition of the Special Issue will contain a selection of invited, regular and review articles submitted and accepted to Metamaterials 2021 conference.
The authors of abstracts whose topic falls in the above categories are invited to submit an extended contribution of their papers to EPJ AM.
EPJ AM is an open access platform for multidisciplinary researchers to exchange information on metamaterials with a focus on high impact engineering applications. The journal is indexed in Scopus, Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science), Engineering Village-EI Compendex databases, and DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).
Submissions are now open. When submitting your manuscript on the EPJ AM submission home page, please, under “General Information” –> “Section/Category” select the Topical Issue “Special Issue - Metamaterials for Novel Wave Phenomena in Microwaves, Optics, and Mechanics”.
The Special Issue is expected to be published before the end of 2021. Please note that the journal has no mandatory publication fees and adopts a "Pay what you want model".

Focus Issue on Tunable Metasurfaces in New Journal of Physics
New Journal of Physics (NJP) is proud to present an upcoming focus issue dedicated to the latest advances in the field of tunable metasurfaces.
We welcome contributions from all participants of the Tunable Metasurfaces sessions as well as any other authors with associated work that would like to be a part of this collection.
Topics covered in this focus issue include, but are not restricted to:
· Actively tunable and reconfigurable metasurface devices based on:
o Electrical gating
o Phase change materials
o Photocarrier excitation
o Magneto-optical, electro-optical and photochromic effects
o Thermo-optical effects
o Mechanical tuning
o Optical non-linear effects
o Liquid-crystals
o Structural and chemical tuning
· Novel concepts in spatiotemporal control of metasurfaces:
o Spatiotemporal control in non-reciprocal systems
o Spatiotemporal control of topological effects
o Gain-loss compensation
· Applications of tunable metasurfaces
Now open for submissions. Articles should be submitted via our online submission form. On Step 1, where the form asks for 'Article Type' please select 'Special Issue Article'. Please then select 'Focus on Tunable Metasurfaces' in the 'Select Special Issue' drop down box that appears towards the bottom of the page. Articles will be published in this focus issue as soon as they are accepted to avoid any publication delays.
AboutNJP
Co-owned by the Institute of Physics, UK and German Physical Society (DPG), NJP is afree-to-read journal publishing research articles of outstanding quality across all fields of physics. As an open access journal, NJP articles have outstandingly high visibility – typically, each article is downloaded hundreds of times within weeks of publication. The cost of peer review and the publication process is financed solely by an article publication charge. Should your work be accepted for publication you will therefore be asked for this fee. Further details about the article charge and available discounts can be found here.
